Parenting and Teaching Resources
Our end goal is for your child to be a kind, curious, and engaged member of our community. This, however, doesn't happen overnight. Children, like all of us, falter on their path to becoming their best selves. Every single child, at one point or another, will hit, yell, bite, name call, defy authority, duck responsibility, shy away from challenges and push you - and anyone else around them - to the limit. Though trying, these moments are not only normal but indispensable to their healthy social emotional development. Every gaffe is an opportunity for you and your child’s teachers to steer your child in a more productive direction.
Below you’ll find a collection of resources we routinely find ourselves pointing parents towards and reviewing ourselves. We’ve sorted them into mild or moderate challenges and intense challenges. Mild and moderate challenges are behaviors that can usually be addressed through a strong school-home collaboration. More intense challenges often require additional expertise from occupational therapists, play therapists, speech therapists, and other fields dedicated to supporting children and families.
For mild to moderate challenges
Defiance
Lying
Peer Exclusion
Perfectionism
Play with Violent Themes
Rough and Tumble Play
Temper Tantrums
For intense challenges
If you or your child’s teachers find that our techniques aren’t adequately supporting your child, then it’s time to seek additional services. Fortunately, there are countless amazing professionals in the Albuquerque area who can help us ensure your child thrives. There is absolutely no shame what so ever in seeking additional supports for yourself and your child.
